Vzpomínka na tragickou smrt šestice britských vojáků

Vojáci 1. Regimentu AAC a 12. Regimentu Royal Artillery plnili úkoly právě probíhajícího společného cvičení české a britské armády Flying Rhino 2004 - Létající nosorožec 2004. Dne 9. 9. 2004 ve 12.54 hodin zavadil vrtulník LYNX AH.9 při průletu údolím o dráty vysokého napětí, vedoucí nad řekou Oslavou u obce Kuroslepy. Po nárazu se již neovladatelný vrtulník rozpadl na více kusů, které dopadly do koryta řeky a na její břeh. Po dopadu se stroj vznítil a v jeho troskách zahynulo všech 6 členů posádky. Letos jsme zvolili komornější provedení vzpomínky. Za doprovodu hry na dudy Scottyho  Velana jsme společně položili věneček, zapálili svíci za každého z nich a  krátce postáli a všem zahynulým věnovali tichou vzpomínku. Nezapomeneme!

Remembering the tragic death of six British soldiers

Soldiers of the 1st Regiment AAC and the 12th Regiment Royal Artillery were carrying out the tasks of the ongoing joint exercise of the Czech and British armies, Flying Rhino 2004. On 9 September 2004 at 12.54 pm, a LYNX AH.9 helicopter crashed into high-voltage wires over the Oslavá River near the village of Kuroslepy while flying through a valley. After the impact, the uncontrollable helicopter broke into several pieces that fell into the riverbed and onto its bank. After the impact, the machine caught fire and all 6 crew members died in its wreckage. This year we chose a more intimate version of the commemoration. Accompanied by the playing of the bagpipes by Scott Velan, we laid a wreath together, lit candles for each of them and stood briefly and dedicated a moment of silence to all the deceased. We will not forget!
